Liquid Waste Management System

Water is drawn from natural springs for manufacturing purposes, but because the volume required is insufficient for operations it is mixed with water from the municipal supply in a holding sump.  Water is also abstracted from the river and held in a second sump, then used for washing floors and machinery within the tannery and effluent treatment plant.  Hot water recovered from the vacuum drying units is also delivered to this sump.

There is a hot water supply line for chemical processing.  This is delivered into 1000 liter feed vats placed above the drum axle level for gravity feed, after raising the temperature by direct steam injection. The temperature is checked using calibrated hand thermometers, and the volumes for addition are measured using volume markers within the drum.
